Milander's comment: No, but as a substitute in a recipe it will be fine. If you want the maple syrup flavour because it will be the main flavour then you have to use maple syrup. There is no real substitute.

Milander's response: I don't think the battery would last long enough for this to work but.. simply disable the "screen off" function under power settings and download a clock app/widget that has an alarm clock function and that should do it

Milander's comment: It may also be that the filter is NOT breaking the surface of the tank, you may need to raise the filter unit to do so. Air and water should be going through the filter unit.
