Logically it should destroy almost every religion but those clever people will always find a way around it, there'll be some phrase or paragraph in their book that'll explain it away or they'll embrace some part of it that they ignored before as "the truth" see: Ezikial in the Bible for an example.
Although there seem to be several conflicts between science and religions, mainly due to the church wanting to maintain ignorance and power over the public, they actually play radically different roles in society. The role of religion is gradually decreasing in society as the world focuses more on materialistic growth. As an atheist, I firmly believe that traditional religions has little value in today's world and are not necessary for happiness or spirituality. To answer the question, the discovery of life on other planets will only spark further controversies between science and religion, which serves only for people to avoid examining the underlying issues of religion, increasing ignorance and religion's hold on society.
