I recently met this guy and we really hit it off. We're not dating yet but we've talked about it a lot because it's something we both want. He is one of the best guys I've ever met, and now that I met him I don't know what I'd do without him. Anyways, I'm leaving for college in a couple months (August) and he is still in high school. We talked about what would happen if I went away (at the most it would be 3 hours away) and he said that it would be best if we broke up. I hope to get into a college close to home because I have other important things that I would like to continue to do and if I went away I wouldn't be able to. I really think I could love this guy and he's not something I wanna lose. When it comes closer to decision time, and if I were to end up going away should I ask to try out dating long distance? We would have the summer to spend together and we could still see each other on the weekends. We're already a half hour away so what's 2.5 hours more? Is this unrealistic?

Long Distance can easily work out and does for many people, but it may be harder on him as he has been with you a lot in person rather than just talking to you online. As well as, both of you are young so there is a chance that long distance might be a bit harder on you. All in all, it can work if you are both dedicated to one another.
To be honest, inside a relationship the most important thing is not being together how far or how close is it is all about love do you really love him that you can give up all your important thing and spent the time with him or you just can't left the thing behind and ask yourself do this really worth you to do it!
