my husband was made redundant last year and recieved a redundancy payment.we used the money and payed of all our debts and some of our mortgage.we went to the jobcentre and told them what we had done and put in a claim for contibutary based jobseekers (my husband has worked all his life and i worked for 14 years before we started a family and we have never claimed benefits before).my husband claimed this benefit and signed on a couple of times, but found the process upsetting and depressing and so stopped signing on and the allowance was stopped.we found it very difficult and lived on some of our house equty for a few months. I didnt think i was allowed to claim as i hadnt worked for several years, a friend told me i could claim income based jobseekersas we had no income. i have been claiming this for several months, along with child tax credit and child benefit. I have now been informed that all of these benefits are taxable and the the tax owed is based on my husbands wage for the previous year,
which was over 50000 pounds and so all the money will be claimed back through a tax bill. I am worried sick,we no longer have any income to pay this, we are selling our house as we cant keep up the repayments, and fear that alot of our equity will be swallowed up with a tax bill and we will end up homeless with 4 children. i am sick with worry.

i hope all goes good it isn't something that is easy to come by and you suffer because they like this stuff apply for the benefits you should get but theres a rule and law that states that you can only draw benefits for so long the economy is they say doing better and that is why so many lost their benefits and they have stopped looking for work you could try other programs and try to get food stamps and any other program you might be eligible for and appeal all orders you get i sure am sorry to hear this
