Ok so I'm currently in year 12 and I'm not very well and there's a small possibility I won't be sitting my exams this year. I am, however, really wanting to take a gap year. Will taking a year out and going into the year below and THEN taking a gap year negatively affect me and my chances, or will it actually be better for me in the long term? I mean, if I take a year out should I then not take a gap year or??
Will taking a year out of school and then a gap year impact me negatively?

When I say a year out of school, what I actually mean is just starting year 12 again in September

you could use it as a refresher course alot of people do this in college so i'm not real sure iif taking the 12th year off would be a good move cause it would be the 12 grade i take it i would ask the school tell them why have you missed alot of days from school you could go to community college and take a refresher course so you can graduate at that point i can see why you would want to do that but i would get in touch with the school at this point cause you might beable to just take it over once your ready to go back
I think that a gap year is a great opportunity to give yourself some time to relax before beginning studies again. This time may make you feel happier when you're studying again for your degree. Have you thought about doing some work experience or maybe some volunteering during your gap year? This will look great on your personal statement and will increase, not decrease your chances of going to a good university. I have inserted a link to a website below which provides students on gap years package deals for experience and volunteering in Cape Town, South Africa. You should definitely take a look. bridginggaps.org/r/2
