So sometimes I get really angry and punch a wall or something similar, which is effective at letting out anger but I'm now really worried about permanent damage, which I don't think about while I'm angry. Done quite a few times now, always hurts after and I need to stop it. Will I have caused any permanent damage already and are there any less damaging ways of releasing anger you can recommend? Thanks in advance.

well if you have done it for a while you probably have alot of damage nerve damage plus muscle damage and each time you do this your piling one thing on top of another and it will damage your fist your hand on a permente situation where you might have to have surgery to fix what damage you have done this way arthritis sets in it can be really painful i think i would be careful
Hi, yes, you will damage your hands permanently. Breaks many not affect you terribly while you're young but eventually behaviour like that will catch up on you and the damage you've done will cause lasting problems such as arthritis, nerve pain and loss of sensation. There are better ways of releasing anger- try softer targets in the short term - pillows don't hit back and don't hurt but you also need a longer term strategy. Have you thought about channeling that anger into something else - say boxing or martial arts. In that way you'd learn self control and a release at the same time. All forms of physical exercise is a good release. Try horse riding - I find a good gallop along the beach a very good release.
Hi, thanks for the reply, I will definitely find a good way of channeling the anger without doing anything damaging, thanks for the suggestions :)
People with opinions but no experience of punching anything.
Punch a punchbag, they are relatively cheap and release pent up energy and are a good workout. Punching a wall a few times will not damage muscles or nerves. It will break the skin and bones, these will heal and you will know in future to buy a punchbag.

Cheers, yeah I've done it I'd say around 15 times so there may be time to stop before serious permanent damage, thanks for the answer :)
