Hi I'm trying to join the Air Force and I have bunions on both my feet and I'm going to MEPS in a little bit and a few people have been telling me that I could get disqualified for them in my feet. They don't hurt or anything and I can do any physical stuff that maybe they would tell me to do there. I even work at a ware house and I have to wear steal toed boots. Nothing is wrong with me I have 0 health problems but I'm just really concerned about this because joing the Armed forces is something that I really want and has been carried down from my family as well. I want to serve for our country but all of what people are telling me aren't putting me at ease about this so My left foot isn't barely noticeable but my right foot kind of is but it's nothing extreme like pictures I have looked up about it. I just am nervous for MEPS because I don't want to go there and have my hopes up and they tell me I'm disqualified for that

I just got back from MEPS today. I didn't even know that I have bunions or "hallux valgus" in medical term. I just thought my feet was normally shaped like this. As far as I can remember I was in 5th grade when I started to notice. Anyways fast forward. The doctor did mentioned on my paper that I have "asymptomatic bunions" she didn't mark it as a "DQ" though I was put in to "TDQ" instead for being 5lbs underweight and I was given 20 days to gain it, then I have to come back to get re-evaluated. Though it also stated on my paper that I have to get XRAY's done for my bunions for an accurate measuring of my "bunions". I'm hoping this will not PDQ me from joining. I will be really heartbroken. Though I would like to know if you made it through.
