Will electric cars truly benefit the environment?

An electric car is the best tool that we have to reduce air pollution especially in urban areas. In fact, the electric motor does not emit harmful gases unlike standard engines. In particular it doesn't emit carbon dioxide, which is the main cause of the greenhouse effect. Today, we have professional and fully electric vehicles of different types (golf carts, transporters, quads, trucks, vans, etc ...)
