I got cautioned at 17 for theft. 2 years later i applied for a job in a care home, i did an enhanced crb, it showed up as theft from a dwelling and i never dared go back to the carehome to discuss it.
im now 27 and have always wanted to work in care but put it off as i presumed i couldnt.
I found out i can but its at the discression of the employer.
I have been offered a job now and payed me crb check fees today, i am currently in training and she has said as soon as my crb check comes back i can start paid work. Now i am really worried! Will it show up now, 10years after the caution? Also i wanted to tell her at the interview but the right ti e didnt come up and i didnt, now im scared if it shows up she will think im dishonest and not let me start work.
I have been in no trouble before or after and can explain the curcumstances surrounding the theft.
Am i likely to be able to get the job?
Will a caution as a minor show up on an enhanced disclosure?

You said it yourself, it is up to the discretion of the employer, however if you were not asked at interview or on the application if you had been arrested (usually it just asks about convictions) then you have not lied.
It has been ten years without getting into trouble and if you have shown good character since, then why not? The CRB check will show exactly what it showed last time, it is a permanent record, but there's a lot more water under the bridge now.
It is theft, so they might be a little cautious , if the employer wants to talk to you about it then tell her the truth (all of it), providing you didn't mislead them then I think you have a good chance.
Good luck.
