Why was technology Imortint to ancient grecce?

In the early days men chipped knives and spear points from flint and they averaged about 1 1/2" of cutting edge from a pound of flint. Within a generation or so they were able to get FIVE FEET of cutting edge per pound of flint. tool making is not unique to mankind. What is unique is the never ending search for ways to make better, smaller, more efficient tools. We call that search "technology". That search has been continuous since the earliest records.
