Why the aero planes are made stream lined wet smooth surface and why it is not preferred be rough?

I don't know about wet, but if airplanes had a rough surface (or weren't so aerodynamic), then they'd create more friction with the air, which would require more force (fuel) to overcome. When you carry more fuel, the plane is heavier, which burns fuel faster.

If a plane was rough it could go off course because the weight would be unevenly spread. it might also ruin the brenulle principal taking lift from the plane
