Why skin tone of people differ from region to region?

The color of the skin, differs due to a substance called melanin, which makes the skin dark. Near the equator, the sun is stronger, and melanin begins to build in the skin, as it is melanin that keeps our skin from being burnt... The accumulation of melanin leads to darkening of skin. That is why africans, who are out in the sun very often, have a dark skin colour, while americans and europeans aren't so dark as the sun in europe and america is comparatively weaker.

Three words, evolutionary genetic alteration. Plus a few more. Geographical region genetic basics, the passage of time, and CLIMATE. I am darker complected, and I justly resent when friends or strangers find that I carry a sizeable percentage of blood from my Northern Araphoe ancestors, for their first words to me are,"Hey Chief!". An insult to those most revered, past and present.
