It's very important to remind ourselves of the evil that happened in the past so that we don't forget and allow something awful like that to happen again. Also to remember all the people who lost their lives needlessly and to commemorate them. The impact it had was phenomenal and is a very tough topic for a lot of jewish people and germans. I was in Poland and went to see the concentration camp in Auschwitz and everyone in Poland is extremely careful and respectful when it comes to discussing it. We have to force ourselves to face these tough topics no matter how hard it is. In my eyes, it's that simple.
