To be a princess she would have to be a daughter/grand daughter etc of a king/queen. Clearly if she had such British lineage then she would not have been able to marry Prince William as she would have been a close blood relation. She is of course English and does not come from a foreign royal family. Therefore, on her marriage to Prince William - who took the title, Duke of Cambridge, she became the Duchess of Cambridge.
Thete is only 1 queen and she sits on the thrown until she dies.
Next in line will be Charles and it is unknown what his wife will be called. When Charles dies then William will move on to the thrown and it is very likely his wife will be queen.
Until then she is a duchess or her highness princess William.
