Why is voting important to a democracy?

Every person has an opinion so to keep a democracy going, everybody needs to contribute their belief. Therefore when voting you have contributed your opinion to one of the candidates whether it be local or national and there is a higher chance of this candidate winning and the majority getting what they believe in.
