Why is the stolen generation an issue affecting Indigenous Australians more than those of European?

Could it be that a whole generation and more of indigenous native Australians suffered a lost of their people due to the European conquest of their land and bringing of new forms of antibody's that affected their systems. Along with the normal raping and pillaging of conquered lands.
