I want to know specifically why this guitar would be worth $800, regardless of make and model.

There are lots of web sites devoted to building a guitar. A lap guitar with electric pickup is fairly easy to build, but the parts will cost about as much as to buy one already built. Anything intended for performance has to have some expertise involved so it will look good, sound good, and hold together in shipment. Among professionals, looking good is not as important as sounding good. I have never investigated acoustic instruments so I can't generalize there, but I do know that a hollow body guitar is not a simple project. It might take a month or more to build. And of course that means the luthier has to get a month's income for it.
I will do my research and watch plenty of videos on building a guitar, just out of curiosity. But I will never make one myself. I do respect the time and expertise going into a build and that is why I asked the question, out of curiosity. Thank you again for your reply.

Thank you for your answer. But I am not going to try to make a guitar to find out why it costs $800. I asked my question for specific reasons. What happens when a manufacturer "builds" a guitar that makes it so difficult or worth $800?
