Why is the king james version so popular within the western culture?

Because it was the first 'people's Bible;- the KJV version brought the Bible out of the church’s sole control and directly into the hands of more people than ever before
Also, the poetic cadences and vivid imagery in KJV have had an enduring influence on Western culture, thus it is still popular today.
