Nowadays, the character Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is only shown for a few seconds on screen as a cameo/easter egg in recent creations made by Disney. His biggest role was in the video game, Epic Mickey as the deuteragonist. It's been clearly shown that he has a fanbase that wants the character to have bigger roles, but there's been nothing. Can anyone explain why?

Most people are not into old school cartoons these days and also Mickey is Disney's franchise character; Oswald would have been if he had not been stolen by the makers of Woody Woodpecker and used him as theirs until about 1996 when Disney finally got the rights back, especially after buying out several companies who had stock in the company that owns Woody Woodpecker.
