Why is confederate flag racist?

I just don't see the reason ,the south had whites and blacks & children in the fight? Am I missing something ?
Is it cause you were born in the south?

Its considered racist because racist people used it as an emblem and the south was/is considered more racist than the north. Most of the south wanted to keep slavery and mosy of the north did not.
