Why does Australia have high poverty levels even though it is one of the richest countries?

Gambling is yet another vice that has deprived many of their daily bread. This is a widespread problem. It is estimated that Australians spend more than 10 percent of their net earnings on gambling. It has one of the highest levels of child poverty among western nations, says a report in the Sydney Sun-Herald
A spokesman for the welfare group referred to Australia’s child poverty as a “national disgrace in a country as affluent as Australia.
Some of the reasons for a high poverty are listed above. We cannot rule out drugs. As in most countries such as the USA should not have poverty because it does provide for the poor. It is also because of corrupt governments in some lands. Family break down is also a key factor. Instead of making sure there is food on the table these parents buy drugs for themselves leaving their children to starve. Depression and other related illnesses can cause poverty. . The bible tells us that 2 Timothy 3: 1-7 we are living in critical times hard to deal with.
