When comparing The jitterbug basic phone, to a tracfone SVC basic phone, the difference is almost eighthfold. The advantages of having a jitterbug must be quite impressive. It has to be, to justify that big a difference in price.

Jitterbug offers much more personalized service. They offer additional services (tht yo pay for on the side, in addition to th normal high rates, and the jitterbug phone also has an emergency button, that the tracfone doesn't have.
That's the justification for the prices on face value. I do believe though that these justifications are severely bloated, and cloaked beneath the mantle of specialization. Once you start specializing, it almost gives you license to charge extra, merely because you only cater to one type market.
As far as that emergency button is concerned: To me it's absurd to think that an elderly person will carry his, or her phone with them all the time. So, if a senior falls, and needs the emergency button...well, good luck to them.
I'll go with the SVC phone everyday, and not be conned. At least not into paying wight times the amount for a product that's as basic as the tracfone.
