Why have you started naming storms?

Until the early 1950s, tropical storms and hurricanes were tracked by year and the order in which they occurred during that year. Over time, it was learned that the use of short, easily remembered names in written as well as spoken communications is quicker and reduces confusion when two or more tropical storms occur at the same time. :)

Whist I get that with hurricanes and cyclones why do we name a windy day? Will we start naming snowy days, because it's December soon and shock horror (spoiler alert) it snows in this country in the winter. Or start naming unusually hot periods? What makes a windy day any more significant?

I didnt know they named windy days. Mind blown!!
I cant answer that though sorry. :(
