I went out and bought a Tritton Kama Xbox One Headset. I tested it out on the xbox and it worked just fine, but when I plugged my mic into my laptop it sounded awful. My friend has the exact same headset and when he did a mic test it sounded great, he showed me how to hook up and when I went to test it, my voice was barely audible, and there was alot of static (noise). Can someone please help me out? Your answers are appreciated. P.S. I have a Windows 8 HP Laptop.
Why doesn't my microphone work properly?

It is something to do with the jack of your laptop in which you plugged it in, it looks like your head phones are not compatible with that laptop. Instead of getting a Xbox One headset, I would get a computer headset, the compatibility is much more common from computer to console
.
So I should either get a different headset that's compatible with the laptop, or get a different laptop that's compatible with the headset… that's a logical answer, thanks
