The guitar I use is an Epiphone Les Paul Special i, the first guitar i've ever gotten. I use a Acoustic G20 amplifier, but somehow it doesn't sound very good when I play it. And before you ask, yes I can play the guitar.

Well, you have not asked a clear question. Is it the guitar, the pickup, or the loudspeaker that doesn't sound good? What exactly do you call "doesn't sound good"? If you are going to use electronics, you are going to have to learn a few words so you can talk to people.
An acoustic instrument can use metal or non-metal strings. The pickup is a microphone, preferably a capacitor type, placed in the sound hole, or in violins it is designed right into the bridge. That is because everybody knows what the instrument should sound like and the sound is judged by how closely it approaches the standard of perfection.
An electric instrument uses metal strings and the pickup is magnetic, placed beneath the strings. There are several styles of pickups and the sound of the instrument depends more on the pickup and amplifier than on how the instrument was made. Here are some technical explanations of the electronics. You don't have to learn much, but you do need to be aware of what is going on in there.
