Why does the earthquake belt of the world coincide with the distribution of the volcanoes?

Nobody knows anything about earthquakes and volcanoes except that we have some. Geologists have dug some holes and used sound waves to paint some pictures, but nothing is known beyond a few thousand feet down. Some people act like they know something, but they don't.
