I own a six year old Rode NT 1-A condenser mic. At the moment when I plug it in, it is very quiet. I give it some light tapping and then it sounds loud like normal. But slowly, over the course of the next minute, it reduces in volume until once again I can barely hear it. What do you think is causing this? Can it be fixed?
Why does my Microphone lose volume over time?

Sounds more like a Preamp or Phantom pwr issue...Borrow another +48V mic and run it through the same channel and see if the pwr dissapates...Im pretty old school here in my lil studio. My board is too old to have +48V PP so I have to run a seperate unit. Every now and then , then channel input needs cleaning or the channel pots need to be sprayed...OR take the mic to the music store and have them test it out on a demo PA....Oh Btw, you shouldnt ever TAP a condenser mic. I had a MXL 990 just barely hit the ground and it killed it...An SM 58 woulda been fine.
