I just installed a new light fixture on a breaker that has never been used before. (We are running power out to a building.) Immediately after plugging in a light, it blew and threw the breaker. I switched the light switch. I plugged the light up to where it just went to the breaker. Still blew. I switched the light fixture entirely. Still blew. I switched the breaker. This allowed the light to stay on for a few minutes, but the light was unusually bright and blew shortly afterwards. What am I doing wrong?

it could have something to do with a power surge or something in the wiring having to do with the area thats affected by the bulb your sticking it in the wiring problem has to be in that general area i would have someone check that out and its very possible that the circut this is involved could some how be over loading the breaker so it could be in the general area
It ended up being that the breaker box was not grounded properly. Thanks for your suggestion though.
