Why does my desktop keeps saying "this type of file can harm your computer do you want to keep it?

The anti-virus program or firewall may be stopping you from opening the program. also it could be malware that is currently on the computer preventing software from being installed to remove it. Remove any unwanted programs. Then try and open the file you were attempting to open.
