What is this Marine West Coast of which you speak? If you mean California, it's because the state has the Pacific Ocean on one side and the Rocky Mountains on the other. Sea breazes blow water vapor in all the time and as the wind goes up the mountain side it cools and rains. So California is lush and Nevada is a desert.
I'm not much of an expert on coastal weather. California does not have any other source of rainfall. I have told you all I know.

i am wondering, does the marine west coast climate receive an even distribution of rainfall because it is receiving moisture from prevailing wind throughout the year?
