All kings and Queens throughout the British Monarchy are numbered, such as William the first, William the second, Henry the first, then Henry the second, etc. My guess is that, for example, should another Queen Anne come to the throne in the future, then she will be titled Queen Anne the second and Queen Anne (1702) will automatically become Queen Anne 1st?

Well, simply becasue there as been no queen or king since with the same name... the reason there is a queen Elizabeth the First is because we have a queen elizabeth the second. If there is only one king John then there is no need to call him king john the first because he's not the first of any other johns... see?
