Using Firefox on Linux, it displays at bottom of window various interaction between my browser and the website I'm using. When I sign in to a private,
restricted website and, say, send some typing, I have noticed "google-analytics.com" is contacted. Not sure why this is happening. Any idea why Google Analytics is contacted?
Why does "google-analytics.com" show up as contacted when I am using a private website?

If you don't pay for something, you are not the customer: you are the thing being sold. Some sites pay their expenses by selling information to Google so that Google can send ads that apply specifically to you. If you have a Google account you can inspect what they have and opt out of some of it. If you have no account then you are just an anonymous wanderer with no rights.
Your answer is appreciated. I will mention that the website being accessed is for emailing inmates at a USA government prison. There is no advertising on that site whatsoever. I thought when a person browsed to a website with no advertising, or ad-words, whatever, that the interaction was confined to person browsing and the site chosen. Thx.
