Why does a person pinch his or her nose when taking a bitter drug?

Holding your nose forces you to inhale/exhale through your mouth, so it helps force you to swallow. Also prevents you from being able to smell the drug.

The reason behind is that firsts is that they will not smell the bitterness of the medicine second when they let their nose go they need to take in oxygen which also make the medicine to go down their throath
