If we are not happy with laws we can demand they change..we decide policy and procedure..I think the schools have been used to make us think of the government as our ruler to decide what we get and can do..like our parents..we dont need to fear them..they cant tell us we cant see their top secret stuff..there is no locked door nor any secret that can be restricted to us because nobody has any power over us according to everything. How do you think communism survives? It survives because they fool their people into believing they are not as bad off as they are..we believe we are free yet have more people behind bars than anyone else..and I believe majority of those for victim less crimes..to be locked up for a victim less crime..years of our short life locked away behind bars because some people dont like what we do even if it only effects us..why dont we stop this ..like now
Why do we live in fear of our government when we are in charge?

Public schools stopped teaching civics a long time ago. The result is that nobody knows how to do any of the things you suggest. Being ignorant, people assume they have to have a government to protect them, and so they will oppose anything you try to do. That goes on until it is physically impossible to support the status quo any longer, and then the culture collapses.
All cultures eventually collapse, all in the same general manner and for the same general reasons. Lots of people have noticed that the collapse of the USA is almost identical to the collapse of Rome 2,000 years ago.
We have this prophecy we call Armageddon. The USA is prominently absent from the story. The country must collapse and become helpless before then. You are seeing prophecy fulfilled as you watch.
But you asked why, and I didn't really answer that.
The only necessary purpose of a government is to prevent anybody else from taking control. A citizen needs to control his government. That is why governments always eventually treat citizens as enemies of the state.
