Why do we keep vegetables or fruits in refrigerator?

We do this because, it keeps the vegetables and fruits nice and fresh. Some fruits like strawberries or blueberries are kept in the refrigerator because it rots easily if it isn't kept cool, it can go to waste. Vegetables are kept in the refrigerator so they can stay fresh. It's basically the same concept with fruits. If they are not kept in the refrigerator they can easily go to waste since it's not that fresh anymore.

1. It protects them from dust and bugs.
2. Most homes have no other place set aside for such a purpose.
3. People assume that all decay is caused by germs, and cold slows them down.
4. People are accustomed to food being either hot or cold, almost never room temperature.
5. Most people have no clue that some things keep better at room temperature.
