Why do Vietnamese people wear Áo dài to weddings?

Based on the definition of what the item of clothing is, I'm guessing they wear it because it is rude to attend naked.

"Áo dài. The áo dài is a Vietnamese traditional clothing, now most commonly worn by women but can also be worn by men. In its current form, it is a tight-fitting silk tunic worn over trousers."

I have no such information, but it could only be because it is a tradition in that country to wear that garment.
