Why do the oscars pick movies that most people haven't even see yet? It's stupid?

The oscar awards are not chosen by people, the oscars are industry awards, internal awards from actors to actors, directors to directors so all those films being nominated have all been seen and looked at by industry insiders. They don't give a flying f*ck if "the people" have seen it yet as they have no influence whatsoever on what film gets what nomination or what award. This is why the number of oscars a film gets is no indication of whether it's a good film or not. It's a luvvy award.
