I was just watching some prank videos on Youtube and was wondering why people laugh. Why is a person's confusion funny? I'm no different than anyone else, but I wonder why.

All funny is scorn, but we think it's ok if it's done in a gentle manner. In show business they say "Break a leg." They mean it. A good fall saves a lot of performances. A good fall is one where you struggle to get up. It's not the fall, it is the helplessness.
The dictionary defines scorn as "the feeling or belief that someone or something is worthless or despicable; contempt." How is that funny?
"A good fall is one where you struggle to get up. It's not the fall, it is the helplessness." I don't understand, Why is helplessness funny?
Those are facts. I am not such a great philosopher that I can explain why people are that way. Sorry, but I have told you everything I know.
I understand that culture influences what is ans is not funny. My question is why do people think that when a person is fooled, or confused, why is it is funny in the first place? Like when we sneak up on a person and yell. The person jumps and is scared.
Why do we laugh? Why is it funny when we trick a person?
