Im assuming your talkin about a vocal track within your multitrack sessions?....If so, a USB mic dry , without runnin other FX plug ins like compression/ digital/ analog reverb/ Eqing (scooping some mids 'that canny sound") and other vocal enhancers that make singing mix well and "sit right" in a musical mix, IS GONNA sound dry and lifeless...The best voice in the world needs some FX in the mix to "behave" properly...Want to be SHOCKED?...Price some of the Multiband Compressors used in most studios. Yeah, I would imagine that Audacty has some post recording Eqing (graphic or parametric) choices of Reverbs, and Compression settings and most will have "preset choices" to play with...Your vocal wont be actually recorded with these FX but you can effect the WAV after your vocal recording....Do it in REAL TIME (during multi track play back so the WAV ITSELF doesnt get effected when you SAVE to file...Kinda like being in "demo mode"....THEN , when your session is ready for MIXDOWN (i think audacty calls it "export") all those chosen FX will be added to your tracks respectively...Be sure your mixing with at least 32bit depth (BIG SOUND)....Hope this helps!
