Why do men cough or clear their throat when they see a women pass by?

i've noticed men do this when they see a girl passing by and even me sometimes, why is this? i'm just curious...thanks!

The man may think the woman is attractive. Or he might notice something on her or something inappropriate about how she's dressed. He could also just be clearing his throat.

sometimes they are just clearing their throat but most of the time the do so so that his voice will sound manly it can even prove if he has a crush on that girl

I noticed this many years ago whenever I passed by a guy or he was walking towards me; and they would clear their throat. 
I always wanted to just stop a guy when he does that and just ask why...but of course they probably won't tell the truth. And it's all races but mostly men over 40.
