well we only had fiber optic phone lines installed a few years ago in this area and before then the wire performed perfectly well. It just doesn't make sense to me in that, it's all packets of data and not to mention the internet (at least the internet i receive) travels down the same lines as the telephone so that rules out the possibility that it's a voltage or data drop. :S
