For about a year now I've been having random chest pains when I breathe. It doesn't happen too often, about 1-3 times a day and never when I'm at home. When I breathe it just feels like all of my ribs are compressing my lungs and digging into them, but the pain then fades within 2-3 minutes. My mom says this could be anxiety, and I don't doubt it, since this only occurs when I'm away from home, mostly during school, and I seem to have some other symptoms of anxiety as well. I also think that I should add in the fact that I have been exposed to second hand smoke my entire life. My mom smoked when she was pregnant with me and continued for the entire 15 years of my life. I smoke every once and a while myself, but this pain begun before I started smoking. Are there any other possible explanations for this? And does anybody else experience this?
