For years I've been doing this. It's almost like an obsession. If I see or hear a word or phrase, I count all of the letters in it. Then, I always change the spelling of the word in my head to make it have doubles of each letter. I change the word or phrase until there is an even number of letters that is divisible by four and two of each letter. I often do this to the same word or phrase for hours or even all day. I do this continuously throughout the day, everyday. This has caused lots of concentration problems and I often get distressed or even panicked if I cannot manipulate the letters to be how i want them. Is there a medical term for this? Is there anything that can be done to stop it?

That happens when you didn't get enough attention from your parents. Bible study is effective. Read a chapter of Proverbs every day. Proverbs has 31 chapters so you can keep your place by just looking at a calendar. There is no religion or nothing in Proverbs and you don't have to believe anything. Just read every day. When you are comfortable with that, then read the bible from Romans to 2 Thessalonians over and over until you start to remember what it says. That is the part that applies to Christians.
