Why do high himalayas receive snowfall?

Ground is warmed by sunlight. Air is warmed by touching the ground. That is why air at some altitude is colder than air at ground level. The north side of a mountain gets less sunlight than the south side, so the north side is colder. Since the air is cold, it tends to snow instead of raining,
