Why do fishes die when taken out of water?

Yes they will but they will last for maybe 30seconds out of water before they die because they breathe water and its like us being put in water, so yes they will die if their lungs get filled with air.

Because their gills are specially designed so that oxygen from in the water can diffuse into their lungs through a membrane which is in between the water and their lungs. The fish cannot do this with air so after several minutes of their bodies being deprived of oxygen they die.
