I've been observing several mountain ranges viz., The Rockies, Selkirk, Cascades etc., and I always see that a few mountains have predominantly more snow overall ( Mountains look white washed) than the others around them.
Is there a scientific explanation or is the height or direction of winds playing major roles on this?
Weather is a very complex event, so it is hard to do more than generalize. But it also depends on individual molecules of water. A molecule that gets blown to one place can't get blown to another place, and another molecule is rather likely to get blown to the same place just because that is where the blowing is going. Water in the sky travels in rivers, same as water on the ground.
