I hate only being able to download the software I want to buy. What happens if I somehow lose my data, I would have to buy and reinstall the software all over again. I'd rather have it on a hard format like a disc. At least give your customers different options to buy your software. Not everyone likes being forced to download it.

Along with image editing software, it's one of the most pirated types of software. Adobe recently announced that Creative Suite would no longer be supplied on physical media. It'll be download only. Distributing it this way makes it a bit safer from piracy.
The problem with piracy is not just that the software company gets ripped off, they pass the costs on to us. It's why Adobe's stuff and 3D animation and raytracing programmes were so expensive. For everyone who buys it legitimately, they're also footing the bill for the people who stole it. Adobe's new price structure is a lot more reasonable. You're now only paying for your own software and not the software that's been stolen by others.
