Why bottom of a water pot or container is made thicker?

Because that part is usually in direct contact with the heat source and has to be more resistant to expansion hence it is usually thicker. It has nothing at all to do with pressure. Actual pressure cookers have a uniform thickeness in order to distribute the "heat" evenly and resist the internal cooking pressure.
