Why are tattooed people looked down on more than smokers?

I may or may not believe tattooing is always dangerous. 

But if it is, how is it any different from smoking? 

Smokers are also harming their bodies, therefore being reckless about their health, and THEY can get hired.

Yet if you have a visible tattoo or even in some cases having one at all (whether visible or hidden), you can't get hired.

They just say its unprofessional. I say as long as they don't see it you good. And smoking is more of an addiction to MANY people. Tattoos aren't an addiction like smoking. You actually have a choice with the tattoo. Smoking isn't a choice. Its an addiction. Somepeople need it to calm down.

I look much farther down on smokers.  Smokers inflict their poison on others.  Tattooed people just keep their ink under their skin.
