Why are smoke shops called head shops?

Smoke shops are called "head shops" due to the counterculture movement of the 1960s. The term "head" comes from "pothead," slang for marijuana users. These shops sold paraphernalia like pipes and bongs, catering to drug enthusiasts and the counterculture community. The name stuck as a cultural identifier for such stores. One of my favourite smoke shop is Smoke Deal.
